What Late Corporate Tax Filing Actually Costs

Corporate Tax returns are due within 9 months of your tax period end — and unlike a one-off fine, late filing penalties keep growing every month.

⚠️

AED 500 per month — late filing penalty for each month (or part month) of delay, for the first 12 months

⚠️

AED 1,000 per month — from the 13th month onward, the monthly penalty doubles and keeps accruing

⚠️

Late payment penalties — separate penalties apply on any unpaid tax amount, in addition to the filing penalties

⚠️

Lost relief elections — Small Business Relief and other elections are made in the return itself; miss the filing and you may lose access to them for that period

Penalty figures are based on published FTA administrative penalty schedules and are subject to change. Figures shown for awareness — confirm current amounts with the FTA, or WhatsApp us and we'll confirm them for you.

Common Questions

Returns and any tax payment due are required within 9 months of the end of your relevant tax period. For most companies using a calendar year, that's a 30 September deadline — but this depends on your specific financial year end.
Your financial statements for the tax period (Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet), bank statements, details of any related-party transactions, and supporting documentation for free zone qualifying income if applicable.
It depends on your activities and client base. Free zone companies may qualify for the Qualifying Free Zone Person 0% rate only on specific Qualifying Activities. Alternatively, businesses under AED 3 million revenue may qualify for Small Business Relief. We assess which, if either, applies to you.
Late filing carries FTA penalties in addition to any tax owed. Given the 9-month deadline runs from your specific tax period end, it's worth confirming your exact date rather than assuming a generic deadline — we track this for every client.
